In Their Own Words

. . . Three Teenagers Tell How Their Lives Were Changed By Fire

Juvenile arrests for firesetting have hit an all-time high. More than half of the 500,000 arson fires set in the U.S. each year are started by people under the age of 18. Furthermore, playing with fire is the second leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. for children five to 14 years old.

In Their Own Words is the story of three teenagers from different cities whose lives were changed by fire. The video offers a compelling portrait of the emotional, financial and legal price these teens pay for setting fires. In the hope of preventing other mishaps, these teens give useful advice to other adolescents who may also risk playing with fire.

"Very impressive, brief, concise and an excellent teaching piece."
