Teaching phonemic awareness and phonics is the single most successful method for developing solid reading and spelling skills in early childhood. Phonics is a way of teaching reading and spelling that stresses sound symbol relationship, used especially in beginning reading instruction. This classroom focused, research based approach to teaching phonemic awareness is aimed at both at-risk and regular students. The highly successful approach couples teacher-to-teacher instruction and theory with practical application in the classroom.
